Working at heights instructor

The Working at Heights Instructor Course from Philip & Son Training Consultants (PSTC) is a comprehensive, two-day instructor development programme designed for safety professionals, in-house trainers, and consultants who wish to deliver certified Working at Heights training. This course focuses on enabling participants to teach safe work practices at height in line with Irish health and safety legislation and current industry standards.

Working at height is consistently identified as one of the most dangerous activities across many sectors in Ireland. According to the Health and Safety Authority (HSA), falls from height remain a leading cause of serious injury and workplace fatalities, particularly in construction, maintenance, telecoms, and utilities. Employers are legally required to ensure that all staff working at height are properly trained and supervised.

This instructor course not only equips you with in-depth knowledge of hazard identification, fall prevention, and personal protective equipment (PPE), but also focuses on how to confidently deliver engaging and compliant training sessions. Participants will explore adult learning methodologies, session planning, and risk assessment skills — enabling them to deliver both theory-based and practical height safety courses tailored to different industries.

On completion, you will be confident in delivering courses covering ladders, scaffolds, harness systems, fall arrest, fall restraint, and emergency planning. You’ll also receive a full instructor resource pack including editable PowerPoint slides, sample risk assessments, instructor notes, and training handouts.

Read more about working at height responsibilities and safety requirements on the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) website, Ireland’s national authority for workplace health and safety.
