Who should Attend this course

This training is aimed at nurses, healthcare assistants and any person who is working with vulnerable adults in their workplace

Course Objectives

To give participants the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to deal with the safeguarding of vulnerable adults

  • Safeguarding Vulnerable Persons at Risk of Abuse, National Policy & Procedures -Incorporating Services for Elder Abuse and for Persons with a Disability, HSE (2014).
  • National Standards for Residential Services (Adults) with Disabilities, HIQA (2013).
  • Trust In Care 2005.
  • Case studies.
Methods of training

The course is mix of DVD & presentations, case studies & scenarios

Assessment & Certification

Continuous assessment throughout the course. Students receive a PSTC Certificate on completion. The certificate is valid for 2 years.

half day course and cost is €50

Our half-day Safeguarding of vulnerable adults (SOVA) course is in line with the Section 8- The Protection Standard of the National Quality Standards for Residential Care settings for older people in Ireland as published by HIQA (Health Information Quality Authority).
