First Aid For Students

Our First Aid for Students Course is designed to give a basic understanding of what to do in an emergency situation.
Who should attend this  First Aid for students course?
Students or young people with an interest in learning these life-saving skills
Course Objectives
On completion of this programme, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the responsibilities of a first aider.
  • Provide treatment for preserving life or minimising the consequences of injury until the arrival of medical aid.
  • Provide treatment for an injury which does not require the attention of a medical practitioner or nurse.

Course Programme
Module 1: The role of a First Aider – On completion of Module 1, the student understands the role of the First Aider and knows how to effectively ensure the safety of the first aider.
Module 2:  Basic Life Support – On completion of Module 2, the student will be able to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and knows the principles of resuscitation.
Module 3: Wounds, bleeding & Shock Management – On completion of Module 3, the student will be able to deal with blood injuries. As well, be able to recognize the different types of wounds and know how to treat them.
Module 4: Trauma Emergencies – On completion of Module 4, the student will be able to perform emergency first aid to treat trauma-related injuries such as fractures, dislocations, burns and scalds etc.
Methods of Training
The course is highly interactive with each theory session being followed by demonstration, practical tasks and assessment of individual skills.
Assessment and certification
Continuous assessment throughout the course. Students receive a PSTC Certificate on completion. The certificate is valid for 2 years.
